Brooklyn got a birthday button so that everyone would say Happy Birthday to her. They even made a Mickey head out of the o's. What a great start to the day.

This was our whole entire reason for coming to Disneyland...to meet Minnie Mouse! Which one is Brooklyn?

Princess pose outside of her house.

Dylan was just as excited to meet the famous Minnie Mouse.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the day.

This is the picture that looks exactly like Todd!

Enjoying some live jazz music in New Orleans Square.

Brooklyn gets handed a tambourine to shake because it's her birthday.

This picture turned out so cute. We were waiting in line for the jungle cruise.

Dancing in the jazz kitchen.

My parents backyard...oops just kidding, it's the jungle cruise.

The coolest part of the day was when we met the princesses. Brooklyn wouldn't go near Jasmine. I had to push her to get her next to belle. And then she started to do an excited dog paddle in the air, her eyes popped out of her head, and her body froze. It was the climax of the day...she saw Ariel! She ran straight to her and Ariel kneeled down to take Brooklyn in her arms. What a special moment.

Having a conversation about Sebastian, Flounder, and King Triton.

There's the hug! After coming back to Kentucky, every time we see a picture of Ariel, Brooklyn says "Hey I didn't get to meet Ursula!"

Kudos to Disney for finding this princess. My standards are pretty high, and this girl was amazing with the kids. Plus she was the cartoon come to life.

Ariel tried to teach Dylan that Princes meet princesses by kissing them on the hand. She said she needed a prince and Dylan got so embarrassed. He did it but was trying to act cool the whole time. He even gave her a roll of his eyes after he kissed her hand.

Checking out his cool dragon warrior face.

When Brooklyn saw that she could have her face painted, it was all she could think about. I think she felt like it was an eternity before it was her turn to sit in the fancy princess chair and get glitterized.

Brooklyn looks like she was meant to have other people make her feel pretty. What a princess in the making.

At first, Dylan wanted nothing to do with the whole face painting idea. But after he got a look at Brooklyn's face he was pretty eager and by the looks of the outcome, waiting in line again was worth it.

My painted faced kiddos.

You can fly, you can fly, you can fly!

Very special attention taken to the design of this cookie.

Brooklyn looooved this part of the day.

Sometimes it's hard for me not to design or draw things for my kids, but they always turn out better when I don't step in and try to "fix" anything. They are budding chefs and artists making their own special cookies and what they created was perfect!

They give you candies and frosting. Brooklyn first thought you should put your candies in the little cup of frosting and then eat it like pudding( a faster way to the yummy end result). I showed her the castle cookie naked without it's decorations and she got the idea.

Grandpa and Brooklyn on what he still affectionately refers to as Tom Sawyer's island.

After we ran out of a cave Dylan stopped in his tracks and HAD to draw a giant X in the sand so that he could remember where he buried his pirate treasure. (Just now, I am sitting at the computer typing while the kids play behind me. Dylan just came up to me and said "We are building an ancient pyramid with a secret passage way that looks like a wall with ancient writings on it. There is only one way to get on the Discovery channel...the destruction of animatronic device used on mummies and beasts(I swear). You know who I am? I am the discovery man on that channel and I have gloves and a little flashlight hooked right here, you see it?"
There is no flashlight, or ancient tomb. But it is amazing what a little five year old can do with some gardening gloves and a refrigerator box.

He has an imagination that even Disney himself has nothing on.

Making their own very special cookies. Dylan blue frosting, Brooklyn pink...shocker.

My happiest place. (minus Todd)

One pretty excited kid.

Grandma hiding out with Logan on Pirate island.

Brooklyn thought this stage area was just made for her and her dancing.

Happy with Grandma. I was feeling pretty under the weather that day but was determined for Brooklyn to have a blast so Grandma came to the rescue.

A visit to the firehouse. For those of you who didn't know...if you look above the firhouse window you'll see a lamp lit all day long. This was Disney's personal apartment for he and his family. Now they leave the light on in honor of him. Also the last train car on the train (that looks so fancy but no one is ever in it) was his too.

Checking themselves out...and yes, she still has a pacifier. There are just too many moments in her life when she needs to be pacified.

Special cakes to celebrate with. Brooklyn got a princess box and Dylan a pirate treasure chest. Thanks Grandma...so cool!

A perfect way to end the evening.

Where else would any three year old want to spend their birthday than at the happiest place on earth. Brooklyn got in for free on her actual birthday day at Disneyland so we went to celebrate a little bit more.
